Intro, dates and questions . . .

Just dropped in to say "hello" ...

I'm assuming you all know, but the Equus/Broadway website is up now. It's at www.equusonbroadway.com and so far is pretty much a carbon copy of the original site for the London run last year.

I'm going to the first preview performance on September 5th, then again at the end. So far I have tickets for the January 31st (the matinee), February 1st and both shows on February 4th.

I keep hoping they'll make some announcement about stage seating, and if they do (assuming the announcement is that there WILL be stage seating, I'll be trying to go at least one more time, most likely on the trip at the end of the run.

Does anyone here know anything about whether they plan to have stage seating and/or if they are ever going to sell tickets for February 5th-8th?

I wonder if Dan will even be coming be coming out to sign autographs after the show in NY.

Was he still doing it in London when you were there? I know they had to stop for awhile toward the end of the run because of the street construction going on behind the theatre, but it was sheer madness at the stage door when I was there.

It took me 5 trips, but I finally got lucky enough to get Dan to sign a photo for me in London.

I'd be in serious trouble if I was within a short drive from Manhattan. If I drive it, it'll take me 9-10 hours one way (North Carolina).

No, the road was still torn up so he never came out - I tell ya, I was so flippin' pissed off at that. I could understand not coming out after the evening show cuz there were soooo many people but before it and before the matinee performance there were only about 10 of us there. I got autographs from every else tho. Still - irritating.

Besides Dan's, I manged to get autographs only from Jenny Agutter, Will Kemp and Colin Haigh (he played Dysart 3 of the 4 shows I went to because Richard Griffiths was sick when I first arrived). I actually had a bit of a conversation with Jenny Agutter and Colin Haigh when I got theirs and that was kind of nice. But getting Dan's was possibly the most special 30 seconds of my life. I hated it for everyone who went late in the run when I heard about the street work and him not going out.

Did you go to anything else while you were there? I saw Maggie Smith's play, and the one Jason Isaacs was in (God he is gorgeous up close!), and I went to see Wicked, so I saw Miriam Margoyles (Professor Sprout) as well ... but I'd never have recognized her in her Wicked costume if I hadn't known she was in the play.

Hope you don't mind, but I took a peek at the profile on your page. We're nearly the same age (I was born in '61) and I work in local government too! Small world, isn't it?

Due to the fact that the trip was really spur of the moment & I'd already paid for the 2 shows I didn't have enuf to go see anything else - wish I'd seen Isaacs' show. I've also heard he is very sweet & quite the family man. I'll have to plan better next time. I loved London.

Small world indeed. Or alternate realities meeting. ;)

Suffice it to say I will NEVER take Jason Isaacs seriously as a bad guy ever again. He is much too sweet in person, and the family man bit is quite true. I saw his play at the matinee and afterward he, Lee Evans and their director came out to do a casual Q&A with the audience (there was a performing arts class from Oxford in attendance that day, so my timing was just really good). After about an hour of casual conversation with the audience members who stayed, there was this little voice calling for Daddy, and Jason excused himself saying he'd promised his youngest a happy meal before the next show. She was so adorable!
